At Minico, the Idaho Falls Bandits won the American Legion Double-A Area C district championship, downing the Pocatello Runnin Rebels 10-0 in five innings thanks to a no-hitter from pitcher Logan Ferguson.
Throwing 51 pitches in five frames, Ferguson allowed no runs on no hits while walking one and striking out two to give the Bandits the No. 1 seed from Area C entering this year’s Double-A state tournament. It is the Bandits’ sixth Area C district championship in seven seasons.
It was the fifth meeting this summer between the teams, who split their regular season meetings. After scoring one run in the bottom of the first, the Bandits’ offense scored nine runs in the bottom of the third. Bruer Webster went 2 for 2 with three runs scored, Cannon Thompson went 1 for 2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored and Andrew Gregersen went 1 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for the Bandits (29-4-2).
