Scammers target college applicants

If you have a child thinking about college next year, you are likely dealing with the heat of the application cycle. Due dates are coming up, early decisions are coming in and high school seniors are battling senioritis. If higher education is a possibility for your or a child next year, you may be thinking about how to pay for it. As college becomes more and more expensive, parents and students alike are scrambling for the best scholarships and grants. Unfortunately, scammers play on this daunting financial commitment.

Last year, major figures in politics, entertainment and business reckoned with a wave of allegations of sexual assault. This year, it’s the military’s turn, said retired Marine Corps Col. Scott Jensen.
