Performing arts take center stage this weekend with a local Broadway performance, a comedy show in Victor and a Western concert in Blackfoot.

RENT performance

RENT, a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical, begins at 8 p.m. at the Civic Auditorium, 501 S. Holmes Ave. RENT portrays a year in the life of seven artists determined to successfully achieve their dream without compromising their integrity and authenticity. Starting at 6 p.m. on the day of the show, $20 tickets are available at the Civic Auditorium. These tickets are limited to two per person. Gardening classes

From 10 a.m. to noon, the Idaho Falls Community Garden Association hosts the start of its eight-week 2018 Organic Gardening series in room 211 of the Center for Higher Education Building at University Place, 1784 Science Center Drive. Open swim

The Wes Deist Aquatic Center, 149 Seventh St., holds a public swim from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $2 for children up to 3, $3 for children 4-12 and seniors over 62, and $4 for ages 13-61. Call 208-612-8111 or visit

Laff Show

Country and folk concert

The Blackfoot Performing Arts Center, 870 S. Fisher St., hosts a country and folk concert with Vince Crofts, Mindi Reid Palmer and Shelby Murdock. The trio performs at 7:30 p.m. This concert is limited to 200 attendees in an intimate setting, and tickets are $12.
